Having long ago realised the minuscule scale of my “poetic talent” (hence inverted commas) confirmed since by a conspicuous lack of success in poetry competitions,  I nonetheless do derive a certain amount of pleasure from trying to put in the form of free verse the impressions I gathered from my life experiences. I share them with some apprehension, but then, why not. I’ll be happy as long as there is someone who reads my “poems”. And even if there isn’t… well… at least I will have something to fill my time with.

Poetry is subjective and no competition, as far as I’ve been able to ascertain, determines what is quality writing or what is crap. Most of the competitions are ladder climbing popularity contests and from what I’ve read on your blog, you are very good. You’ve got talent. 🙂

  4. miniscule poetic talent? So far I’ve read a good half dozen and my jaw drops open at how you tie words and thoughts together. There is a lovely flow to your words. Keep writing. please.
